We celebrate the day with music all day long as we always do, and cake is back this year!

Come join us in Charles Hoey Memorial Park to celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday!

Canada Day 2023 Celebrations Schedule:

@ Charles Hoey Memorial Park

Noon - Mbira Spirit - Becoming a tradition to have them start Canada Day for the community with an uplifting approach to country styled danceable music.

1:00 PM - Kelly Roxanne Girvan - School teacher by day and night, she also enjoys her own musical journey and continues to pen some fine songs for us to hear.

2:00 PM - Tropic Mayhem – Serving up some good old classic rock’n’roll with a beachy feeling, always in demand for private functions, they make sure all in attendance have a good time.

3:00 PM - Malakai – Now at the age of 14, this young man is breaking into his stride and now with more of his original tunes and his excellent choices of covers that he believes you should be made aware of.

4:00 PM - Trip ‘ n’ Me - This local songwriting duo also pull out some great cover tunes, yeppir, you is guaranteed to be entertained.

4:20 PM - Canada Day Cake - Cutting and sharing– Sponsored by Canadian Super Store.

5:00 PM - McCandless Family Band - Chuck and his family are of Irish descent and it comes thru in their foot tappin’, dinger snappin’musical journeys of originals and covers, a most enjoyable experience.

6:00 PM - The Porter Brothers- They have the essence of pure rock’n’roll in their finely crafted and extremely well delivered farm country/roots style music.

7:00 PM - Ryan McMahon - He has carved out an almost 20-year career as an independent artist in Canada’s vibrant music scene, a genre fence sitter, hanging out on the edges of country just enough to say he isn’t, Ryan is both a whisper and a scream.

8:15 PM - Brandon Isaak Trio – Acclaimed Juno nominee, now a valley resident, he performs old Delta blues standards (and some self penned tunes that soon will be) quite eloquently and yes, he likes to play music that can make you wanna dance. https://www.brandonisaak.ca/

All of these scheduled musical events are designed to bring community together to celebrate our diverse local / Canadian and international music scenes, to give the opportunity to meet our neighbours, share a common experience and hopefully be able to now greet each other with a friendly smile on any future happen chance connections we are proving that downtown Duncan and the Cowichan Valley is... ‘a rather fun place to be’.
