Noon Dennis & Andy some light heartedness to start the festival off, these two work together like real good – their 4th year as first act
1pm Chuck McCandless a mainstay of folk music, this Irish singer / songwriter boated from Ireland and landed up in Manitoba and who now calls the valley home, was there in the beginnings of the Winnipeg Folk Festival and uses his vocals and long necked banjo in a Pete Seeger -ish kinda way
2pm Eugene Smith and guest – just turned 80, his vocals have become even tastier - what they might call a ‘lifer’ in the music scene
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Carlsons -wonderful displays of youthful dance - first showcase for this year’s festival and then every Friday at 3pm till the festival ends
4pm Andy Cooke – a local singer/songwriter with great musical abilities and tales to tell
5pm Malakai -this 15 year old singer/songwriter/instrumentalist continues to amaze as he embraces his musical talents with gusto
6pm Russell Wellner Trio - from Victoria, well penned originals and very engaging deliveries of those songs – good response from last year’s appearance meant for a return visit
7pm Arbutus Roots West coast rooted, high energy, acoustic guitar driven music from this Cowichan Valley indie-folk pop band

8:15pm BC Fiddle Orchestra Daniel Lapp brings along the shining stars of his Victoria fiddle orchestra just to make us go ‘wow’

1pm Big Dream - Vancouver Island, singer/song trio Dale Manason, Greg and Ingrid Vaughan - a “LOVE “ set of original songs, keyboards, guitars and tight three part harmony vocals.
2pm Reid Williams a gifted songwriter born and raised in the valley, he sings these songs that needs be heard by more audiences, come see why this is said
3pm Sharon Bailey Trio original roots /country from Saltspring Island with Sharon Bailey
(vocals / guitar) -Wesley Hardisty (fiddle)- Alan Ker r(upright bass)
4pm Lip Forest Northern Saskatchewan boy now a Cowichan Valley home owner that writes and sings about those northern roots
5pm The Rivals as a 4 piece they cover a variety of tunes that make getting up to dance that much easier – one of the many bands we will be presenting on Saturdays at 5pm that perform regularly on Friday nights at our local Eagles Lounge on Boys Rd. for your dancing pleasures
6pm Alan Dobb roots alt-country genre is where this island performer feels most comfortable writing and singing his well penned originals
7pm Daniel Cook and the Radiators Victoria’s roots- country island rock has a slight pop feeling, their original approach to songwriting helps us appreciate life just a bit better

8:15pm Soul Source 20 piece Victoria community R&B band run by trombonist Nick LaRiviere- performing the music of Sister Sledge, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and so much more – very danceable

Noon Tony Turner Trio Nanaimo-based acoustic based trio that perform original songs penned by Tony - while anchored in the roots tradition, the trio’s repertoire has touches of blues and pop and the songs often have a twist of humour.
1pm Reuben Shepherd and Too Far Gone a fine young singer-songwriter from the valley that has been given the opportunity to perform at SunFest this year – come see why
2pm Anishinaabe Mitchell Sisters these sisters from the North Bay area now call Victoria home- from a musical family they bring a sweetness to the stage that must be witnessed
3pm Level Crossing Mike Regimbal (vocals/guitars) and Dee Cooper (keys/vocals) return with Paul Stapleton (guitars/vocals) and Greg Moore on drums. Cool tunes and originals. Multi genre rock to reggae.
4pm Anne Schaefer from Victoria this songstress writes and delivers her originals in a very memorizing fashion-those that know of her will attend and those who by happenchance witness, you will become fans of Anne Schaefer
5pm Wayne Kozak sax player extraordinaire - whatever songs Wayne brings to the festival with his well chosen sidemen, we the listener, get the finest of musical journeys
6pm Ultraviolet this trio's creative talents push the boundaries of modern Jazz and electronic music into a dream world – ‘their originality harkens back to the creative enchantment of Keith Jarrett and the electronic virtuosity of Pat Metheny’
7pm Typsy Gypsy Jazz Band think Stephane Greppelli, Django Reinhardt style traditional jazz, swing, and blues by this quartet of islanders, you might lightly kick up your heels a bit

8:15pm Diana Braithwaite - Chris Whiteley multiple Maple Blues Awards nominations and wins to their names they bring acoustic styled blues delivered in the finest of musical fashion with Rik Rice on bass, James McRae on drums and Shakey Reay sitting on some tunes with his harmonicas

Noon Mbira Spirit becoming a tradition to have them start Canada Day with an uplifting approach to danceable music for the community
1pm Kelly Roxanne Girvan school teacher by day and night, she also enjoys her own musical journey and continues to pen some fine songs for us to hear
2pm Cara McCandless a powerful voice along with her songwriting skills makes you glad you had a listen
3pm Tropic Mayhem serving up some good old classic rock’n’roll with a beachy feeling, always in demand for private functions, they make sure all in attendance have a good time
4pm Terry Wicks and friends a singer/songwriter/producer/recording engineer he has a penchant for the blues as he will show us tonite with some originals and a few covers joined by some musical friends
4:20pm Canada Day Cake - cutting and sharing– sponsored by Canadian Super Store
5pm Nicholas Campbell from Peterborough Ont., this roots country / rockabilly singer-songwriter and wicked guitarist brings along his fave bass player Rob Foreman to give you his very own musical journeys ( aka: HiLo Players for Pat Temple)
6pm Jsa Jsa and the Cariboo Kid Jsa Jsa (Jeanne Tolmie) and the Cariboo Kid (Daniel Lapp) sing old country and folk songs mostly from British Columbia. There is some yodelling, polkas, swing and honky tonk and always some fiddling to round out the show.
7pm Pat Temple and the HiLo Players tonite as a 4 piece, Pat brings on his take of hillbilly jazz to the festival that is liable to get your toes a tappin and maybe even a bit of dancin’ time on your part ?

8:15pm Ryan McMahon Trio ‘he has carved out an almost 20-year career as an independent artist in Canada’s vibrant music scene, a genre fence sitter, hanging out on the edges of country just enough to say he isn’t, Ryan is both a whisper and a scream’

1pm Meagan Maria solo -Island-style music flows through her blend of Spanish and English songwriting. Expect everything from ukulele cha-cha to beautiful piano waltzes accompanied by a unique vocal talent
2pm Brayden Gates he is at once the quintessential folk singer and a highly exceptional one -his songs are both workmanlike and full of emotional nuance, and they are delivered by a performer who is both a masterfully unassuming storyteller and a blazing-hot instrumentalist
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Kathy White Dancers teachers and young students demonstrate what they have learned this last year
4pm Rockland Moran song writin' story tellin' geetarist -open tuning bottleneck & mandola - novice blacksmith and all 'round troublemaker
5pm Renovation Blues Band these island boys have originals and covers that will rock you out with a solid blues delivery
6pm KingmiXers the blues is alive and well and this Victoria band play it with fire and passion, driven by sweet, scorching harmonica licks
7pm Paul Black Band raised on gospel and country, the defining moment came when he was given tickets to see Stevie Ray Vaughn, from then on it was nothing but the blues, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters. Paul soaked up everything he could get his hands on and he gives back all that he has got

Noon Teo a fixture over the years as a busker throughout the valley, it is with great pleasure that we have him perform on our stage twice this year
1pm Katrina Kadoski besides writing/producing/performing the awarded Cougar Annie Tales, she is an extremely fine songwriter and singer from the get go
2pm Chance Cossitt – at a young age, he wants to be a songwriter-came to an open mic at the Showroom and we soon figured we would give him his own slot
3pm Duncan Does Have Talent- open mic if you want to dance or sing to tracks make sure you sign up even a week or two ahead...only 8 slots per week and we want to make sure as many as possible get the chance to
4pm Emergence with Hanna Elise a modern, ancestral-folk musical collective comprised of Hanna Elise and Cody Wicks - with singer-songwriter roots and classical technique, Hanna's vocals soar with clarity and beauty over Cody's intricate and textured rhythms - their music invites the old ways to court the new.
5pm Hip Billy a unique Nanaimo based music duo consisting of music veterans Bruce Gerrish (Vocals,Guitar, Uke, Banjo) & John Ellis (Vocals, Dobro, Lap steel, Mandolin) - they have a Retro Cool style that draws from many genres including: Old School Country, Roots, Rock, Rhythm & Blues and catchy Originals
6pm Nicholas Campbell bringing a fine sense of roots country / rockabilly feel to forefront, from Peterborough Ont. – joined by Rob Foreman on bass
7pm McCandless Family Band Chuck and his family are of Irish descent and it comes thru in their foot tappin’ sing along musical journeys of originals and covers – you just might find yourself on the dance floor

7:30pm Malakai having just turned 15 on March 21st, he has grown into this wonderful young entertainer that is writing some very cool tunes, and his guitar / piano skills are just getting even better and better – it is our delight to have the privilege to present him
8:30pm Braden Gates ‘drawing from the poignant and ironic sensations that occur throughout his working day, he focuses his lyrical imagination into a journal of character sketches - full of wit and wisdom, folksy charm and sharp observations, Gates’ compositions are relevant and, strangely, very rooted in 2016 —even if he plays that fiddle and picks that guitar like an artist three times his age.’

1pm Jaclyn Childs folk noire is an interesting genre and strong feelings of melancholy will come over you...and she races cars as well as sells real estate
2pm Scott McGill singer/guitar player/teacher/songwriter and with those high vocals he does, wow, catch this show
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Canada’s Best Karate - the students are always way excited to come demonstrate their new found skills as taught by Sensei Jordan
4pm James Hamilton the sounds of a sitar in the late afternoon outdoors and sometimes with a guest singer and possibly a belly dancer
5pm From the Earth a Vancouver Island based alternative-island-folk duo with uplifting harmonies, catchy ballads, and a wide variety of original and unique cover material
6pm Braden Gates from Edmonton this awarded singer-songwriter is a gem of a performer
7pm Baby Boy and the Earthly Delights a roots-rock and reggae-inspired outfit based on Vancouver Island that should have you kicking off your shoes and dancing on the grass

8:15pm The Steadies Earl Pereira, a founding member and bass player/vocalist of a popular and multi awarded Canadian band (Wide Mouth Mason) he co wrote and sang most of the hits, brings his energetic and worldly stage presence to his infectious roots/reggae/rock band known as The Steadies – your spirit will be uplifted no matter who you are and you will want to dance

2pm Linda Tesser familiar tunes sung with passion along with freshly written originals thrown into the mix
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Carlsons a valley dance institution they have stayed with the times, their weekly showcases at the festival will amaze you
4pm 2 Much Chocoate this duo play sort of ambient and atmospheric love songs in the rock/pop idiom - some originals, many re-arrangements with multiple instruments (guitar, bass, 2 flutes, melodica, ukes, harmonica,) - should be fun
5pm Nice Verdes a duo from Australia play music from south America with a gypsy feel - a regular for our festival, they bring a global feel to the setting
6pm Hell Katz our local rockabilly trio, they really do rock the stage
7pm Nicholas Campbell – from Peterbourough Ont. area, roots country duo with a rockabilly feel – the real deal

3pm Kele Flemming a deeply gifted singer-songwriter. Kele (pronounced Kelly) gracefully weaves the vulnerability of traditional folk with the raw power of rock & roll.
4pm Mathew Presidente keyboardist from Vancouver, he is a LGBTQIA2S+ and is a stellar musician and just a bit of humour involved
5pm The Bar Starz featuring Jo-Ann Hearns on vocals - one of the many bands we will be presenting on Saturdays at 5pm that perform regularly on Friday nights at our local Eagles Lounge on Boys Rd. for your dancing pleasures
6pm Cosmosaurus a Nanaimo five piece alternative rock band formed in 2018 sharing experiences while in the VIU Jazz Program –a unique blend of progressive introspective funky space rock with an emphasis on vocal harmony
7pm Bijoux du Bayou brought to us by the Community Farm Store, this legendary island band performs Cajun styled music to make us all want to dance

1pm Nancy Harper / Alexandra Roedder classical duo that will extremely entertain you- an afternoon in the park with such eloquence
2pm Douglas Brothers the band is made up of the two brothers, Larry and Wayne. They began playing together as a way of getting out of the dishes. Soon they were asked to play outside, which led them to play in barns and garages, and eventually basements of community halls. At this time, their sound was best described as “pingo pingo or otherwise chunky”.As their popularity grew, they began making up songs as a way of getting out of doing requests
3pm Lester Quitzau and Matthew Hinton -come journey with Matthew and Lester as they wander through the woods of musical improvisation …From Mozart to The Mississippi Sheiks, they explore an unknown landscape… listening to and following a path unfolding.
4pm Mike Edel Canadian singer-songwriter who has over 6 million cross-platform streams and has been featured on ABC’s American Idol, extensively on CBC and CBC q, on Sirius XM’s The Verge, The Loft, North Americana and CBC Radio 3 and played hundreds of shows and festivals across North America and in Europe as well as performing at the prestigious 39 Days of July in past years
5pm Wes Carroll Confabulation walking the tight-rope, balancing detailed arrangements with the power of spontaneity - stretching out into a world of hip-hop grooves, soul and electricity while not losing their jazz footing, their set blends Carroll's distinct, hip-hop-inspired singing, dynamic guitar solos, and modern-jazz horn lines with themes that include the rising cost of living, sexual humor, re-imagining masculinity, distraction, hopelessness, and quirky love.
6pm Steph McPherson calling Victoria home, this singer / songwriter has grabbed our attention since we first heard her a couple years back, you will enjoy her, of that we are sure - a voice you will remember, singing lyrics that allow the imagery to shine thru, she is one of our special musical treats
7pm Jared Popma a singer/songwriter and guitarist based out of Nanaimo, BC with a background in Funk/Jazz, and lyrics that uncover the hilarious irony that is the human experience -brings along fine fellow VIU Jazz alumni to showcase his tunage

8:15pm David Vest /Terry Robb- David, a multi award winner, the original boogie-woogie starchild rockin' and shoutin' the blues since 1957, comes to Duncan along with his stateside pal, acoustic blues guitarist extraordinaire, Terry Robb- they recently recorded an LP due out in Oct. at the Duncan Showroom

3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Warmland Dance collaborative community fostering creativity, a love of the arts and excellence among peers
4pm Rae and Scott when two voices find each other and R&B/ soul music is their bonding, we the audience win big time (especially when one of them is Scott McGill)
5pm Kye Goski from the Cumberland area, young Malakai shared a stage with this guy and said he should perform at the 39 Days of July- we said sure
6pm Lindsay Martel a veteran player, singer/songwriter, raised in the Maritimes who after two years of formal music school drifted back to rock, folk, country, rock and roll and blues, working continuously playing in pubs, night clubs and festivals, or wherever he or his band could find a gig. Now living in our valley, a treat for us
7pm Beverley McKeen and her Sweet Band she writes great songs and her sweet band breathes even more life into each tune, a festival highlight

8:15pm Bu VonBlume from Cumberland BC, a six piece, horn driven, crazy interactive, all original funk, punk, disco, ska, cumbia, reggae whatever-as-long-as-it’s-dancy - super fun-time outer space band.

Noon Conor Searl local singer-songwriter music teacher that we don’t see often enough in a public setting – here is your chance
1pm Jarid Soulfire singer/songwriter from the valley ,there is a softness about this young man that comes out in his original and his choice of covers keeps your attention
2pm Anneda first heard her from off in a distance at our Saturday Farmers Market years ago, her vocals drew me in closer so as to discover who it was, and here she is, still showcasing her magnificent vocals at our festival years later
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Kathy White Dancers pure joy watching these young students take to the stage
4pm Blue Hearts traditional folk style pickin’ blues - duo Hank Lionheart and Mark Comerford bring an authenticity to the delivering of their blues tunage that makes witnessing them a treat
5pm Augie Dawg & the Blues Benders Augie Dawgs’ first blues band and he’s put together an all star line up - with a blend of songs some familiar, some originals and a few off the back shelf - Pierre Millette on drums, Jeremy Sagar on bass, Carson Maertz on guitar, Paul Wainwright on saxophone and Augie Dawg on vocals and his signature one of kind harmonica playing.
6pm Gerry Barnum an excellent singer/songwriter, front man and side man for island blues bands or any project requiring a solid harmonica player, a one man act that can get you up dancing
7pm The Helen Davies Band aka –Curl, their band name has changed and a bit of the line up and yet still here to rock you out with their blues standards and originals

Noon Naomi Payan born and raised in France, true love brought her to our valley- a wonderful singer-songwriter and positive influence to the world around her
1pm Just Jim this man knows so many older folk/country/pop songs and he does deliver them with grace

6pm Kamile Kapel her music is original pop jazz – she plays a keyboard with bass, drums and midi sounds built in so there are beats - she tells funny stories before her songs in a kind of one woman comedy musical show.
7pm Firebird local trio made up of three accomplished singer/songwriters - experience stunning three-part harmonies and a fusion of Irish, bluegrass, and pop

8:30pm Ty Koch with Nico Rhodes a young singer from the mainland that performs a variety of musical genres exceptionally well including blues, rock and classical music accompanied by the great Nico Rhodes on keyboard

3pm Teacher / Student Showcase- Glenora Farm Handbell Choir a treat to find a slot for this ensemble, they bring freshness to a very rewarding afternoon performance, circle this one if you can and be here
4pm Dana Sipos ‘coaxes silkworms out of their cocoons and spins them into song – she inhabited the far north before going nomad and her captivatingly nuanced songs are filled with a wild wind and a haunting surrealism’ –nominated for ‘solo artist of the year at the 2022 Canadian Folk Music Awards
5pm Lindsey Walker roots-rock musician from Edmonton who wants to entertain you – well worth the 50 minutes of your time
6pm Lester Quitzau / Damian Graham back again cause they is sooo good – real fine award winning blues based guitarist combining with an extremely unique drummer that intuitively takes us to new places where no other music dare travel, most enjoyable
7pm Rivercity Sidemen from the Cumberland area these guys impressed young Malakai at a recent showcase he participated at and he highly suggested that we present these up and coming musicians

2pm Dave Gallant past president of the Sooke Folk Society, he now calls our valley home and he would love to entertain you all
3pm Teacher / Student Showcase -Carlsons a valley dance institution they have stayed with the times, their weekly showcases at the festival will amaze you
4pm Duke and Goldie - Mystical Country Twang – this duo having released a debut cd to critical acclaim last year they were able to tour Canada and won many hearts along the way-will they win yours?
5pm Carlines -retro indie-pop-rock from Victoria carries the nostalgia of yesteryear with feel good light and sunny hooks.
6pm Monte and the Pythons a valley boy, a singer/songwriter with a very cool band showcasing his finely crafted originals - a mainstay in the valley original music scene, Monte Nordstrum and crew deliver some very fine tunage
7pm Thick as Thieves aka Row of Crowz for 30 years, the boys still bring the goods to the table or dance floor- still rockin’ after all these years...ya

8:15pm "The Beat Goes On" (a Wrecking Crew celebration) the west coast had a musical team known as the Wrecking Crew and they performed on more records than you will ever imagine - yes, you have heard them and didn’t know their importance to the rock’n’roll scene till now- there are so many hits that they were the house studio band on , wow - - tonite you will find out how many of those songs you know

2pm Dogma 96 been a part of the festival since its beginning and even before that in earlier DCFS programming-singer songwriter and leaning towards folk noire
3pm The Ranters a local folk duo with an auto harp / mandolins / guitar and harmonies and a wonderful repertoire of folk covers
4pm Glenn Foster Group their original songs range from intricate finger-picking ballads and country-flavored pop to highly creative electric rock
5pm Turnip the Beet - one of the many bands we will be presenting on Saturdays at 5pm that perform regularly on Friday nights at our local Eagles Lounge on Boys Rd. for your dancing pleasures
6pm Renfrew Road a songwriting duo living in Shawnigan Lake, raising their new family reflects in their music - maybe a full band today, we will find out at show time

2pm Boneyard Babes an ensemble of Indigenous and queer-identifying musicians committed to building a sense of community through music -with a wide representation of originals, traditional folk, roots, and old country, their music embodies percussion, rich harmonies and a powerful female presence - their music evokes a deep sense of healing connection to Mother Earth and Turtle Island, bringing warmth, kindness, humour and a passion that is evident in all they do

6pm Dance Temple Cowichan Ali and Chris have put together an awesome electronic music thang playing tasteful African inspired music with lots of love and live samples with chris’s grooved percussion ... extremely danceable
7pm Pinebox Rebellion these seasoned local players have their own genre, kinda rockish indie pop that works real well and creates a fun energy - they have been recording new tunes as of late and are ready to present them

8:15pm Nautical Disaster they do their damndest to sound just like the original material-they jam regularly to stay tight on the songs and gel as a group, so when their lead singer gets going on a lengthy improvised rant on the outro to "Looking for a place to happen" the band can just keep things rolling seamlessly -the frontman has some big shoes to fill, but the Gord above is smiling because Ryan does a good job
